How to Set New Year Intentions and Stick to Them
How to Set New Year Intentions and Stick to Them
The end of one year or the start of a new year is the perfect time to set intentions and establish new goals. It can also be an overwhelming process. With so many areas of our lives to consider, it can be difficult to stay motivated during the year and stick to our resolutions. In this post, I share some guidance on how to set realistic intentions and stay on track with them throughout the year.
Setting Realistic Intentions
When setting intentions, it's important to choose realistic goals. Consider breaking goals into smaller, achievable steps. For example, if you want to improve your health, start with small goals, like drinking more water and eating healthy meals. Writing down your plans can also help keep track of your progress.
Planning for Success
Creating a plan for success can help you meet your goals. Set a timeline for your goals, and schedule regular check-ins with yourself to track progress. Make sure to reward yourself for milestones and accomplishments. This will help you stay motivated and on track.
Staying on Track
Staying on track can be a challenge, and this is where most people struggle. Find an accountability partner who can help keep you motivated and accountable. Additionally, don't be afraid to take a break if you start to feel overwhelmed. Taking a step back can help you get back on track and stay focused on your goals.
How I am Setting My Intentions this Year
I’m sticking to just three intentions. My intentions are quite big, they have lots of parts to them and can be broken down into lots of smaller goals. However, I still only have three main intentions, which stops them feeling overwhelming. I have a health and fitness intention, a reading intention and a learning intention. I will share my intentions in more details in another blog (watch this space).
Conclusion
Setting New Year intentions is an important part of self-development. With the right planning and strategies, it's possible to stay motivated and achieve your goals. Remember to set realistic expectations for yourself and take regular breaks. The big thing to remember is make sure to set yourself up for success by being realistic and breaking your goals down into small manageable pieces. It doesn’t need to be any more complicated than that.
